Jason Serious made his song-writing debut in 2009 with the indie band Flea Market Poets. The album he wrote – Dirty Days – met with critical acclaim, won the Hot Press Single of the Fortnight in Ireland, and spent a good few weeks on rotation on American college radio. After touring the record for over a year in Ireland and Europe, Jason began recording just for fun a few of his orphan songs – mostly country and folk tunes that didn’t quite fit into the indie rock world. What began as a personal side project began to attract interest in local musical circles, and before long some of the best musicians in town were playing on the record. The result is the album Undercover Folk (2012). The live show grew out of the record making process: musicians who played on the record would turn up at gigs and join in on stage, and soon a more constant sound and group of players emerged. Johannes Joss (drums), Alto Kraus (bass, vocals) and Dave Ingleton (banjo, vocals) and Jason Serious (guitar, vocals) now make up the core of the Jason Serious Band.
